Anthony Kim is joining 4Aces GC as a new team member for the remainder of the 2026 season, marking a significant turn in his golf career. Kim, who has been a Wild Card player since 2024, is transitioning from an independent status to a full team member alongside Dustin Johnson's 4Aces GC. This move comes after Kim's impressive performance at the ROSHN Group LIV Golf Riyadh, where he tied for 22nd place, indicating a promising comeback after a 12-year retirement. The club made the announcement before the opening round of LIV Golf Adelaide, where Kim will make his debut in the 4Aces lineup.
Kim's journey to this point has been a challenging one. After resuming his professional golf career in 2024, he was relegated after the previous season but earned his way back into a full-time position at the LIV Golf Promotions event. His recent results, including a tie for fifth at the PIF Saudi International and a third-place finish at the Promotions event, have shown a clear upward trend. Kim's performance in Riyadh, where he outperformed Miguel Tabuena, a reserve player, further solidifies his return to form.
The 4Aces General Manager, Chris Rosaasen, expressed excitement about Kim's addition, citing his positive trajectory and the potential boost to the team's performance. Kim's presence fills the void left by Patrick Reed, who is now competing primarily on the DP World Tour. Rosaasen and Johnson, after discussing various options, decided that Kim was the best choice for the team, considering his proven track record on the biggest stages, including his role in the 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup team.
Kim's return to the team environment is a significant development, as he has been a lone wolf throughout his career. He expressed enthusiasm about being part of the 4Aces and is eager to learn from his teammates, particularly Johnson and Thomas Detry. Johnson believes that Kim's support system within the team will accelerate his return to the type of golf he displayed during his most successful stretch between 2008-10, when he won four times.
Despite his positive trend, Kim acknowledges that his comeback is not yet complete. He aims to improve further and reach his full potential, recognizing the upside in the rest of the year and his career. The addition of Kim to the 4Aces team, which dominated the 2022 season, is expected to enhance their performance and create a compelling narrative in the LIV Golf league.
