The iconic band, Radiohead, has taken a firm stand against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after their song "Let Down" was featured in a social media video. The video, posted on ICE's official accounts, presents a disturbing montage, allegedly showcasing victims of violence attributed to "illegal aliens." Radiohead's response was swift and unequivocal.
In an exclusive statement to The Independent, the band expressed their outrage: "We are demanding that the individuals behind the ICE social media account remove the video immediately. This is not a laughing matter; our music holds deep meaning, and we will not allow it to be co-opted without a fight."
But here's where it gets controversial... Radiohead didn't stop there. They added a bold statement, "And to those responsible, we say: go f*** yourselves."
This isn't the first time Radiohead has clashed with the Trump administration. Just two weeks ago, guitarist Jonny Greenwood and director Paul Thomas Anderson requested the removal of their music from Melania Trump's Amazon documentary.
Greenwood, who composed the score for the film starring Daniel Day-Lewis, claimed that the use of his music was a violation of his composer agreement. His attorneys backed this up, stating that while Greenwood doesn't own the copyright, the distributor, Universal, failed to consult him, which breached their agreement.
The documentary, directed by Brett Ratner, followed Melania Trump in the lead-up to her husband's second inauguration. Despite its poor critical reception, with The Independent's Nick Hilton calling it "transparently not a documentary," it managed to gross $13.35 million domestically, largely thanks to organized groups of Republican women.
